# Bad Thumbs Up > Bad Thumbs Up is a searchable archive of 107,756 custom emoji collected from one of the largest Slack workspaces. Every emoji is an image you can download and upload to Slack, Discord or anywhere else that takes custom emoji. Everything on the site is static and free to fetch. There is no API key and no rate limit beyond normal politeness. ## Find emoji - [Full emoji index (JSON)](https://badthumbsup.com/emoji.json): every emoji's name, page, image path, format, animation flag and size, in one file. - [Search](https://badthumbsup.com/?search=parrot): `https://badthumbsup.com/?search=` opens the site on fuzzy-matched results for a term. Results render in the browser, so use emoji.json when you can't run JavaScript. - [Browse A to Z](https://badthumbsup.com/browse/): static HTML lists of every emoji by first character. - [Topics](https://badthumbsup.com/tag/): static pages for 475 common words in emoji names, such as [party](https://badthumbsup.com/tag/party/) and [cat](https://badthumbsup.com/tag/cat/), at `https://badthumbsup.com/tag//`. - [Sitemap](https://badthumbsup.com/sitemap.xml): every page on the site. ## Emoji pages and images - Each emoji has a static page at `https://badthumbsup.com/emoji//`, for example [thonking](https://badthumbsup.com/emoji/thonking/). The slug is the lowercased name; names with characters outside letters, digits, `-` and `_` get a short hash suffix, so take the `page` path from emoji.json rather than building it. - Images live at `https://badthumbsup.com/emoji/.png` with the name percent-encoded. Many files are really GIF or JPEG despite the .png extension; emoji.json has the true format. - To use one in Slack: download the image, open Customize workspace, then Emoji, then Add custom emoji, and give it the name.
